Revive Your Winter Skin: 3 Treatments for a Spring Glow
Between the dry air and the effects of indoor heating, your skin can take a real beating during the winter months. Now that spring is just around the corner, though, it’s time to revive your skin and give it the glow it deserves.
At Primary Care Walk-In Medical Clinic in Gilbert, Fountain Hills, Mesa, and Scottsdale, Arizona, our providers, Dr. Pankaj Chopra and Dr. Neha Maheshwari, offer several options to revitalize your skin, including Botox® and dermal fillers, as well as Morpheus RF treatments. Each works in different ways, but they all end up at the same destination: glowing, refreshed-looking skin.
How Botox improves skin
Not all wrinkles are the same. Dynamic wrinkles are those caused by repeated facial motions, like smiling, wrinkling your nose, or squinting your eyes. The muscles underneath the skin contract to allow you to make the expression, then revert to their resting state.
As you get older, though, the skin becomes less elastic, and it can no longer rebound as quickly or as much as it used to. That leads to wrinkles that become etched in your face.
Botox is a neurotoxin derived from the bacterium that causes food poisoning. In its purified state, though, it’s perfectly safe to use in trained hands like those of our providers. When it’s injected into the wrinkled area, it prevents the nerves from signaling the muscles to contract; without the contraction, the skin smooths out, giving you a refreshed look.
Botox is FDA-approved for use with forehead lines, the lines between your eyebrows, and the lines at the corners of your eyes, commonly called crow’s feet. Results last 3-4 months, after which you can have another treatment to keep your skin looking younger and more supple.
How dermal fillers improve skin
Static wrinkles are those caused by the loss of the skin’s underlying support structures, such as the meshwork of collagen and elastin proteins and hyaluronic acid (HA), which binds moisture and makes the skin smooth. The body naturally produces less of these substances as you age, which can lead to deep lines, furrows, and hollowed-out areas.
Dermal fillers are designed to restore volume to those areas where you’ve lost some of the support structure; they plump up the area they target. The most common types of fillers are HA-based fillers, such as the lines from Juvéderm and Restylane. Each different formulation in the line targets a specific area, such as the lips, cheeks, or nasolabial folds.
Results can last up to a year or more, depending on how fast you metabolize the substance, at which time you can simply repeat the procedure.
How Morpheus treatment improves skin
Microneedling, which uses ultrafine needles to create microchannels in the skin to stimulate collagen and elastin production, has been used in the aesthetics industry for some time. Morpheus radiofrequency (RF) treatments are like microneedling on steroids, and we can use them on the entire body.
Morpheus offers a nonsurgical way to tone, tighten, and rejuvenate the skin on both the face and body. Along with microneedling, Morpheus delivers RF energy into the micro-wounds, accelerating collagen and elastin production to levels your body produced when you were younger.
By providing a solid foundation upon which the skin rests, it smooths out lines and wrinkles and gives you a more even tone.
At Primary Care Walk-In Medical Clinic, we offer three types of Morpheus:
1. Morpheus8
Morpheus8 treats the skin on the face and neck, tightening and firming it, helping to restore volume, and providing a more youthful appearance.
2. Morpheus V
Morpheus V is used on the delicate vaginal and vulvar areas to treat issues like vaginal laxity, dryness, painful sex, and lack of sensation. It can also help treat stress incontinence in women.
3. Morpheus Body
Morpheus Body targets fat deposits throughout the body, providing precise contouring in areas such as the abdomen, back, and thighs.
