What is stress incontinence?

Stress incontinence means urine leakage that happens with stress on the bladder. The stress can happen with physical movement. So, laughing very hard, sneezing, lifting a heavy box, jogging, jumping, or other movements that can stress your bladder often cause leakage.

I have stress incontinence. Why is it happening?

The main reason stress incontinence happens is the weakening of the muscles supporting your urethra (the tube that urine flows through to exit your body). In women, the cause of this weakening is usually pregnancy, childbirth, or menopause.

But, other conditions can result in stress incontinence if they cause extra pressure on the bladder. For example, asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) can cause heavy coughing and may contribute.

Usually, stress incontinence stems from things you don’t have control over however, you do have control over managing your symptoms. You can stop the leaks and get back to your life without worry.

How does stress incontinence treatment work?

Primary Care Walk-in Medical Clinic uses revolutionary nonsurgical technology to treat stress incontinence conveniently in their offices. Two of the treatments available include:

Morpheus V

Morpheus V includes two types of technology. Radiofrequency energy heats the dermal skin layer, where you make new collagen and elastin. This heating process signals your body to make more of those proteins.

Collagen provides skin support, firmness, and plumpness. Elastin lends tightness.

Morpheus V includes microneedling alongside the radiofrequency energy. It involves tiny pinpricks in the skin, reaching the dermal layer to start the collagen and elastin remodeling process.

The two work together to give you maximum collagen and elastin growth. Together, they can help build better bladder support and reduce leaks.

VTone

VTone uses electrical muscle stimulation (EMS), the same technology used in body contouring, to cause many rapid contractions in the muscles that control your bladder. This leads to stronger pelvic floor muscles and less urine leakage.

Morpheus V and VTone are also good approaches if you’re experiencing vaginal dryness, laxity, decreased sensation, or other sexual health challenges.

If you’re experiencing stress incontinence, it’s important to know that there are solutions to get you back to being leak-free.
