How Body Contouring Can Tighten Your Stubborn Mom Pouch

How Body Contouring Can Tighten Your Stubborn Mom Pouch

When you’re pregnant, you eat for two, and those extra calories lead to necessary fat deposits that help you carry the fetus to term. After you’ve delivered, though, you may find that it’s not the easiest thing to lose those – now unnecessary – fat deposits and return your body to its previously toned form.

That’s why at Primary Care Walk-In Medical Clinic in Gilbert, Fountain Hills, Mesa, and Scottsdale, Arizona, our providers, Dr. Pankaj Chopra and Dr. Neha Maheshwari, offer body contouring with Morpheus8 technology.

The platform not only addresses the visible signs of aging but also helps resolve the inevitable “mommy pouch” following pregnancy. If you’re looking to get your toned body back, here’s how we can help.

What is collagen?

Collagen is a structural protein found throughout your body, including your bones, tendons, muscles, skin, and blood vessels. When you’re young, your body produces large quantities of collagen and the related protein elastin, making your skin firm and flexible.

However, at about 25 years, your body starts to reduce production, and you can lose additional amounts due to smoking, eating too much sugar, or basking in the sun’s UV rays. Less collagen and elastin lead to the wrinkles and sagging skin characteristic of aging. It also means your body is less able to rebound from skin stretching due to pregnancy.

Microneedling and the body contouring power of Morpheus8

Microneedling is an aesthetic treatment that uses rows of tiny, sterilized needles to deliberately create wounds in your skin, thereby triggering your body’s healing response. One way it responds is by producing more collagen and elastin, which fill in those wounds, providing a firmer foundation for the skin and restoring its tautness and flexibility.

But microneedling by itself can only do so much. That’s where Morpheus8, an FDA-cleared fractional radiofrequency (RF) device, comes in. It channels RF energy through the wounds into the skin, creating more damage than the needles alone and stimulating even higher rates of collagen and elastin production.

In addition, it targets fat deposits, heating and destroying fat cells. Your body then flushes out the debris, leaving you with a toner profile.

At Primary Care Walk-In Medical Clinic, we use two parts of the platform in tandem to target the soft mommy pouch and reduce its size: Morpheus8 Body and Morpheus8 Tone. Together, these tackle fat reduction, skin tightening, and muscle tone, all with no incisions or a lot of downtime.

We start with Morpheus8 Body, which employs microneedling and RF energy to target and destroy fat deposits in areas like the belly and to stimulate collagen and elastin production to tone the skin.

Then, we apply Morpheus8Tone. This technology uses electrical muscle stimulation to trigger rapid muscle contractions in the treatment area, giving you the same toned muscle definition as endless sit-ups and crunches but without the work.

If you’re dealing with a “mommy pouch” but don’t have much extra skin in the area, you should be a good candidate.
